The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are headed back to the Grey Cup for the prize that has eluded them since 1990.
Despite -12 degree weather the Blue Bombers stayed warm enough to complete its Cinderella story. Just a season ago the Bombers had a 4-14 record, Sunday the defense shut down the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to win 19-3. Winnipeg was listed as -3 favorites for the game.

With the football likely as aerodynamic as an ice cube the Bombers adopted a ground attack to pace their offense. Running back Chris Garrett carried it 29 times for 190 yards and and one touchdown, Buck Pierce mostly managed the contest with 16 completions for 175 passing yards.
Despite a dominant run game the defense was just as strong, Winnipeg forced Hamilton to punt 12 times, held the run game to 39 yards rushing and quarterback Kevin Greene to 113 passing yards.
Oddsmakers listed the total for the contest to 51 points, not even close as the total landed on 22.
Since winning it all in 1990, the Blue Bombers will be making their fifth trip to the Grey Cup. Despite boasting the most Grey Cups in CFL history, Winnipeg also has the longest drought at 21 years.
Winnipeg awaits the winner of Sunday afternoon’s Western Final, the B.C. Lions are facing the Edmonton Eskimos.
The 99th Grey Cup will be held at the newly refurbished B.C. Place Stadium.
