Williams knocked out defending Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals of the tourney on Tuesday, taking their match in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 7-5. Williams is the No. 6 seed at Wimbledon, while Kvitova was the No. 4 seed.

Tuesday’s win was Williams’ easiest victory since she dispatched Melinda Czink of Hungary 6-1, 6-4 in the second round. Serena needed three sets to get past both No. 25 Jie Zheng of China in the third round and Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan in the fourth round.

Facing off against Williams in the semifinals will be No. 2 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, who outlasted Tamira Paszek of Austria 6-3, 7-6 in her quarterfinal match on Tuesday. Azarenka had cruised past No. 14 Ana Ivanovic of Serbia by scores of 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth round.

In the top half of the women’s draw the semifinal match for Thursday has No. 8 Angelique Kerberof Germany taking on No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland. Radwanska defeated No. 17 Maria Kirilenko of Russia 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 in her quarterfinal match on Tuesday.

Kerber also needed three sets to advance to the semifinals, getting past No. 15 Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-3, 6-7, 7-5 in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Lisicki had previously knocked out top-seeded Maria Sharapova in the fourth round of the tournament.

For Thursday Kerber is listed as the -150 favorite on the tennis odds at Bovada to advance to the Wimbledon final over Radwanska (+115). Williams is then pegged at -175 against the underdog Azarenka (+135) in her semifinal match.
