Saturday night will feature a great fight card out of New York for boxing betting fans. The card will be headlined by a rematch between Light Welterweight champ Danny Garcia and Erik Morales, and will also feature a WBA Welterweight title fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Pablo Cesar Cano.
Garcia took away Morales’ WBC Light Welterweight title last March and has since added the WBA and RING straps to his collection with a fourth-round TKO ofAmir Khan in July. Now he looks to make a statement against Morales again as a heavy favorite.
Morales has not fought since losing to Garcia earlier in the year, but at the age of 36 and with a record of 5-7 in his last 12 fights he will need more than a long rest to somehow beat the undefeated Garcia this time around.
The big difference between this fight and the last one will likely be the lack of respect that Garcia will give to Morales in the ring. He has admitted that he was in awe of the former multi-divisional world champ before their first meeting, but this time around he intends to destroy his opponent and make another statement to the boxing world.
In the other title fight Malignaggi will be defending his WBA Welterweight title for the first time against Cano. Malignaggi has had big success since stepping up to Welterweight and will be a heavy favorite to defend his title on Saturday night.
However, Malignaggi will be facing a tough challenge from Cano, who makes his first appearance at Welterweight coming off three straight wins. Cano’s only professional loss came at the hands of Morales last year, and a win against Malignaggi on Saturday night will launch him back into the big payday fights.
