These days there’s a lot of action happening in and around Hollywood, and I’m not referring to the usual blockbuster box office draws. With the LA Kings competing for the cup, a fortified Dodgers squad topping the west under new ownership, and both the Clippers and Lakers almost making it to the conference finals, it feels like the golden age of sports is happening right now in the real heart of the Golden State. Of course, even casual sporting fans know that something massive is missing in Los Angeles. Have you ever wondered why the great megalopolis can’t hang on to an NFL franchise, iconic or otherwise? I mean there was a day not too long ago when the so-called city of angels actually had two pro grid-iron teams.
Remember the rams? How about the raiders? They aren’t coming back. At least LA sports fans can take advantage of football and nba basketball betting from across the nation while holding out for another storied franchise to call their own. Not to mention that there’s tons of college football action with renowned private college USC and its public rival UCLA.
These days, with austerity measures in full effect, politicians and the voting public aren’t exactly interested in ponying up the cash to build a state of the art stadium to attract a team. Fortunately, putting a franchise back in Tinseltown is a priority for the league, at least as far as expansion goes. I say you might as well even the score and add two teams. If you consider nearby Orange County, the LA area already has two hockey teams, a pair of basketball teams that make for some seriously fun NBA basketball betting, and a couple of baseball teams in close proximity. You might as well extend the winning tradition. This time I’m willing to wager that it will be for keeps.
