Freshly minted as a Top 25 team in the AP Poll, the No. 22 Arizona State Sun Devils will take their unbeaten record on the road this weekend for a game against another 2-0 team, the Illinois Fighting Illini.
And with those even records comes an even college football betting line, as the oddsmakers at the Bodog Sportsbook had this contest pegged as a pick’em when the odds first appeared.
Arizona State ran over UC Davis from the Great West conference 48-14 in their opener two weeks ago, then picked up a more impressive win in Week 2 when they got past then-No. 21 Missouri by a score of 37-30.
Brock Osweiler had no trouble moving the Sun Devils’ offense against the Tigers, throwing for 353 yards with three touchdown strikes in the contest. Osweiler also ran for 31 yards and a score in that game, while Aaron Pflugrad and Jamal Miles each had two TD catches.
The Sun Devils, though, failed to cover the posted spread on the college football betting board in both of their first two games. The Illini have fared slightly better at 1-1 ATS through two games, beating Arkansas State 33-15 in their opener and cupcake South Dakota State 56-3 over the weekend.
Illinois starting quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase saw limited action in that rout, completing six of his eight pass attempts for 102 yards while also running for 93 yards and two scores. Donovonn Young rushed for two touchdowns in that victory as well.
