Murray, who has lost in the final of the Australian Open in each of the past two years including a 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 defeat to Djokovic a year ago, cruised to a comfortable straight-set victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France in a match that took less than two hours to complete. Murray also dispatched first-round opponent Ryan Harrison of the United States in a gruelling four-set battle earlier in the week.
Murray now moves on as a strong -2000 favorite on the tennis odds to defeat left-hander Michael Llodra (+800) of France in his third-round match, a player whom Murray has previously defeated twice already in his career.
Djokovic has looked very strong through his first two matches in Melbourne, dispatching second-round opponent Santiago Giraldo of Columbia in straight sets after blasting Paulo Lorenzi of Italy in the first round. The powerful Serbian has lost a total of eight games while winning his first six sets at the Australian Open, as he tries to claim his third Grand Slam title in a row.
Djokovic (-10000) will next face Nicolas Mahut (+1600) of France in the third round, and he remains the 11/10 chalk on the tennis betting futures to win the Australian Open. Murray is at 6/1 odds to win his first Grand Slam title.
Be there for every victory.
