Milwaukee at Washington – Brewers RHP Marco Estrada (4-6, 3.56) vs. Nationals RHP Jordan Zimmermann (11-8, 2.96): The former member of the Nationals Estrada has won four of his last five decisions after working seven scoreless innings against the Pirates on Wednesday. He felt “out of whack” after seven days off but will be pitching on regular rest this time. … The Nationals were able to win their 90th because Zimmermann was solid, allowing one run in six innings against the Dodgers. Zimmermann was able to win his 11th game on seven days’ rest.

Pittsburgh at NY Mets – Pirates RHP Kyle McPherson (0-1, 2.25) vs. Mets RHP Jenrry Mejia (0-1, 9.00): The rookie righty McPherson makes his second start after an encouraging debut Wednesday against the Brewers, holding them to a pair of runs while stretching out to 4 1/3 innings after breaking into the Majors with seven relief appearances. … Mejia has made one start and two relief appearances since joining the Mets earlier this month. He lasted just three innings in his only start, allowing five runs on six hits against the Brewers on Sept. 15.

St. Louis at Houston – Cardinals RHP Lance Lynn (16-7, 3.79) vs. Astros LHP Fernando Abad (0-5, 5.11): Lynn has made two starts since retooling his mechanics in the bullpen, and he looks like his first-half self. Showcasing a much smoother delivery, Lynn has limited opponents to one earned run in 12 1/3 innings since moving back into the rotation. … Abad allowed three runs on six hits while striking out six over five innings of a 4-1 loss to the Cardinals on Tuesday night. The team has lost the past 10 times Abad has taken the mound.

Arizona at Colorado – Diamondbacks RHP Trevor Cahill (12-11, 3.89) vs. Rockies RHP Tyler Chatwood (4-5, 5.73): Since going winless through August, Cahill has won his first three starts in September, throwing at least six innings each time. In 19 1/3 combined innings this month, the right-hander has surrendered just six runs. … Chatwood gave up three runs on eight hits in four innings in San Francisco Wednesday, with all of his runs coming in the first on a back-foot slider to Pablo Sandobal that would have hit his foot if he hadn’t swung at it and sent it over the fence.
