The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are part of a four-team logjam at the top of the American League East as they play the second game of a three-game series. The host Orioles won the opener 2-1 on Tuesday to snap Toronto’s four-game winning streak. The two squads are tied with the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays for the top spot at 10-7. Baltimore has allowed just three runs while recording back-to-back one-run victories.
The Orioles hope to have closer Jim Johnson back after he missed Tuesday’s game with an illness. Pedro Strop filled in to notch his first major-league save. Toronto scored 22 runs during its winning streak before having just five hits against Baltimore in the opener. The Blue Jays will send Kyle Drabek to the hill, and Drabek defeated the Orioles 9-2 on April 15 by allowing just two runs (one earned) and six hits in 7 1/3 innings.
