David Wright has been swinging a loud bat this season for the New York Mets, who will begin a three-game series against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. New York’s third baseman has nine hits in his last 18 at-bats and boasts a gaudy .495 on-base percentage in 2012.
The Mets enjoyed an off day after taking two of three from the Colorado Rockies and five of their last six overall. Arizona fell to 4-3 on its 10-game road trip following Thursday’s 2-1 setback to the Washington Nationals.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks LH Wade Miley (3-0, 1.29 ERA) vs. Mets RH Dillon Gee (2-2, 4.85 ERA)
With Daniel Hudson injured, Miley has stepped up in his place and recorded National League Rookie of the Month honors for his stellar April. The 25-year-old yielded just three earned runs while scattering 10 hits in 21 innings. Miley allowed just one run on one hit in 6 1/3 innings in his last outing as Arizona posted an 8-4 triumph over Miami on Sunday.
Gee evened his record last Saturday after striking out a season-high seven batters in as many innings. The 26-year-old has split a pair of career decisions versus the Diamondbacks, limiting the opposition with a slim 1.09 WHIP and a .233 batting average.
1. New York OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis gave Miley a run for his money for the rookie award. Nieuwenhuis, who originally replaced an injured Andres Torres, is batting .325 since being called up from Triple-A Buffalo.
2. Arizona second baseman Aaron Hill rebounded after his 18-game streak of reaching base came to an end on Wednesday. Hill had an RBI double in the sixth inning on Thursday, but has yet to face Gee in his career.
3. Mets OF Lucas Duda has been sidelined for the last three games with the flu, but expects to play versus the Diamondbacks.
