The Denver Nuggets continue to live on the edge in the Western Conference. The Minnesota Timberwolves are rapidly sinking to the bottom. The Nuggets are the highest-scoring team in the NBA but rank near the bottom in scoring defense, making for an exciting style of play but some inconsistent results. Denver surrendered 117 points in a loss at Minnesota last month and held Golden State to 84 in a win on Monday.

Minnesota Timberwolves (25-33): Minnesota is enduring a season-high six-game losing streak and has dropped 14 of 18 since March 9 to fall from playoff contention. Injuries have played a big role, but a lack of defense is also becoming a problem. The Timberwolves have surrendered 107.5 points in the last six games and let the Phoenix Suns shoot 57 percent from the floor in a 114-90 loss on Monday. Kevin Love seems like the only player on the floor some nights as he continues his dark horse MVP campaign. The All-Star forward has scored at least 22 points in 10 straight games. Love went for 30 and 21 rebounds in the win over Denver on March 25.
Denver Nuggets (31-26): Denver is the type of team that can lose to the Warriors 112-97 on the road Saturday and come back with a dominating home performance in a 123-84 victory over the same team Monday. The big difference was on the inside, where rookie Kenneth Faried bounced back from a one-point, four-rebound performance Saturday with 27 points and 17 boards Monday. The Nuggets also got a key piece of their rotation back Monday, with Danilo Gallinari returning from a 10-game absence. Denver has traded wins and losses over the past five games, winning each time it eclipse the century mark. Denver topped the Timberwolves 103-101 in overtime at the Pepsi Center on Feb. 20.
1. Denver had taken seven straight in the series before falling last month.
2. Love has put up 21.0 points and 14.1 rebounds in 10 career games against the Nuggets.
3. Minnesota point guard J.J. Barea has scored in double figures in three straight games.
