The American side has won each of the past two Olympic gold medals – claiming the crown in 2004 at Athens and again in 2008 at Beijing – and will begin its chase for a third consecutive Olympic title in late July as the heavy betting favorite to emerge from their preliminary group, which also includes world No. 6 France, No. 8 North Korea, and No. 28 Colombia.
