The Milwaukee Brewers may have found the right opponent to get themselves headed in the right direction. Milwaukee tries for its second straight victory Tuesday against the Houston Astros after losing nine of its previous 10 contests. The Brewers were on their way to another setback in Monday’s series opener before erupting for four runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
They held on for an 8-7 victory, but not before Houston scored three times in the ninth and had the tying run on third base before finally succumbing. Milwaukee’s bullpen continued to struggle, allowing four runs over two innings. Fortunately for the Brewers, Houston’s relievers were worse, yielding five runs in two frames. Francisco Cordero suffered his third loss in four appearances with the Astros, who have lost 13 of their last 13 games and 26 of 29.
